Apathy is as Big a Challenge as Racism.
George Floyd’s Death Has Become a Flashpoint but Apathy Once Again Rears Its Ugly Head.

George Floyd died at the hands of people who were hired to serve and protect both him and his community. I’ve posted a few times regarding the Amy Cooper incident which segued into discussions and exchanges on the death of George Floyd.
Some of the sentiments expressed by others really disturbed me:
- It’s sad but what can you do?
- Making changes to the police force will cost too much taxpayers money and changes won’t work anyway.
- There’s too many police in America — what works elsewhere won’t work here.
- It doesn’t happen that often. It’s just isolated incidents.
- I live in America and I don’t see any racism in *my* police force.
- Other countries have the same problem. Your country isn't perfect.
- It’s black on black violence that’s the problem.
It’s worth noting that these sentiments came from people who are unlikely to face the same issues…
