George Floyd died at the hands of people who were hired to serve and protect both him and his community. I’ve posted a few times regarding the Amy Cooper incident which segued into discussions and exchanges on the death of George Floyd.

Some of the sentiments expressed by others really disturbed me:

  • It’s sad but what can you do?
  • Making changes to the police force will cost too much taxpayers money and changes won’t work anyway.
  • There’s too many police in America — what works elsewhere won’t work here.
  • It doesn’t happen that often. It’s just isolated incidents.
  • I live in America and I don’t see any racism in *my* police force.
  • Other countries have the same problem. Your country isn't perfect.
  • It’s black on black violence that’s the problem.

It’s worth noting that these sentiments came from people who are unlikely to face the same issues…
